The
song that I chose for today is “L'll Red Riding Hood” by Amanda Seyfried. The
original version was sung by Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs. I heard this song
in a random YouTube video that I clicked on today. I love this song when I
first heard it, the melody is great and Amanda’s voice is also great. So that’s
why I chose this song for today. I think it is also nice to talk about an
English song, I haven’t talk about one since at least a month ago.
The
lyrics of the song are quite simple, but interesting. The lyrics talks about
the little red riding hood through the mouth of a wolf. At the beginning we
have no idea the narrator is a wolf. It started of telling us that the little
red riding hood looks beautiful. He thinks that the riding hood is exactly what’s
a big bad wolf is looking for. He also thinks that it is unsafe for her to
travel in the forest by herself. So he told himself (and perhaps the little red
riding hood as well) that she would be safer to walk with him. Then now he told
us that he is a wolf, he said that he will keep his sheep suit up for now so
that she would feel more comfortable to walk with him. He wanted to hold her
and get close to her, but he told us that he is worried that she would think he
is a bad wolf. At the end of the song, he review that he is the wold to her, of
cause trying to eat her.
In
Amanda Seyfried’s version, she seems to skip the last part of the song, which
was the part that tried to show the dark side of the wolf. So if you would like
to listen to the full story, I think you will enjoy the original version more.
If you are in just for the melody and not so much about the lyrics (or perhaps
you just want a good ending for the story) then I think Amanda’s version would
suit you better. Hope you will enjoy the song.
