30th Nov 2014 (如果我有事 – Andy Lau)

The song for today is “如果我有事” by Andy Lau. This song was the theme song for the movie “Yesterday Once More” (龍鳳鬥) from 2004. The movie was about a couple (played by Andy Lau and Sammi Cheng) that were once thief, but one day Andy decided to leave Sammi (as he got cancer). From memory, in their last case, they decided to steal a large diamond from a rich guy by Sammi pretending to get married with the guy. As they approach the end, Andy decided to pull away (to try to leave Sammi in a good hand before he die). Of cause, Sammi found out, but I am not planning to spoil the ending :p Anyway, what I am trying to get to is that there are two version of this song, “” is sing by Andy, telling the story from the male perspective, while Sammi’s version “如果你有事” tell the story from the female perspective. The lyrics of the songs are very similar but it is an interesting pair of song. The direct English translation of the title of Andy’s version is “If I have an accident”.

The lyrics of the song are about what the protective thing will happen to his girlfriend if he had an accident and passed away. It said that he is worried that he might not have the luck to accompany her for the whole life. So he focused on how to make her happy such that she got something to remember about. He is willing to believe in fate, to see who will pass away first. She is healthy while he is sick, so he could only drag her down. No doubt that he loves her so much, so how could he face the fact that he is losing the ability to take care of her. If he just went out, he might not be able to see her again. But he believe in love, so he tell her to remember for the rest of her life, no matter when and where they are, they will see each other again one day. If he passed away, she will be very lonely. How could she be happy if she is alone? She doesn’t have his luck to be able to pass away first, at least he could reach haven earlier. But if he pass away, then she will be living alone. She will need to learn again to the end of the world to try to live on her own, a protagonist without any supporting cast. If he passed away, she will be very lonely. How could she be happy if she is alone? She doesn’t have his luck to be able to pass away first, at least he could reach haven earlier. But even if he passed away, she could let another to be her protagonist. But why would she care about trying to find someone new to replace him. So it is his fault to say too much to get her mad. The song for today is “第一天失戀” by Jinny Ng (吳若希). This song was released a few years back. While I had heard of Jinny’s name many times, I haven’t really paid much attention with her music as she isn’t popular. Due to the company that she is with, many of her songs are theme songs for TVB dramas (though the one for today is not). Personally I quite like Jinny’s voice and I think she got potential to be popular, but to achieve that she needs to be lucky enough to get a few very popular songs and to be more unique on her singing style. The direct English translation of the title is “First day of break up”.

The lyrics of the song are about how the protagonist copes with her emotion after she broke up with her boyfriend. It said, half of the coffee from Starbucks was tipped over. Deliberately to try to calm herself down, she hasn’t cried yet. There are only two type of words that can be said during break up, if she didn’t listen, then she didn’t need to worry. She didn’t turn her head around, couldn’t be bothered to pick up the coffee receipt. She deleted all the photos in the memories of her camera. Then she get online to book a air ticket, once got on she slept. She experienced the ups and downs from the turbulence and she started her broke up journey. In the cloud, no one will know that she cried. First day of broke up, what could she do in the following days. She needs to quickly accept the changes. Without love, she is about to break, she couldn’t take it much longer. Ended, the first day of broke up. Happiness will happened on another day, she felt lost. Time flies, she made it over today. After today, there are more challenges waiting for her tomorrow. Memories wouldn’t be deleted after broke up. Leaving behind the most beautiful memories will make her more tired. It is hard to delete off these memories when they are hiding in the darkest part of her mind, she need to escape her break up trip. No one around her knows that she couldn’t sleep. Please don’t follow the rotten love and fall into the abyss, she need to make up her mind. She need to know; she could see the flaws in personality. First day of broke up, what could she do in the following days. She needs to quickly accept the changes. Without love, she is about to break. How could she end this as he is all over her mind. The song that I chose for today is “道別說愛你” by J.Arie. This song was released earlier this early, I personally quite like it. The direct English translation of the title is “Good bye love you”.

The lyrics of the song are about how we should care about others more. The protagonist asked how long it has been that they last asked about each other since her parents’ hair turned white. When they walked in the park they hold hands, but now that they are much older, they haven’t held each other’s hand since then. Now everyone treat what you own as what you deserved. Leaves haven’t turned red so not knowing that it is autumn. Thinking about the past, who was that person that let you set on top on their shoulder and gaze at the stars above? Don’t wait until the people around you slowly left to regret that you didn’t love them enough. If you keep waiting, you will let yourself get further apart. So you wanted to hug when you say goodbye at their funeral and kiss the old photos? Partners is already got used to be busy with themselves, like how their date always happened at the same time as the meeting. To buy a house, you need to work until the morning. The bed could be bigger, pocket money could get more, but who will got the strength to get closer to their other half? Stop waiting, the one that you own you need to pay them back now. You aren’t old yet, so while you are still young give him the best. The lyrics of the song are love. As it is a duet, I will represent Anita’s line by “F:”, Andy’s by “M:” and when they sing together “T:”. F: I found it hard to love and I feel helpless. Sometime I really wanted to cry, how can I keep the love? It was really touching and fulfilling, but love is like floating. How could I found my true love in the sea of people? The song for today is “心寒” by Patrick Tang and Ronald Cheng. As mentioned yesterday, this is a song that I listened to quite often. The English translation of the title is “Chill to my heart”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist discussing with his friend how disappointed he was with his girlfriend. Since this is a duet, Patrick’s line will be represented by “P:”, Ronald’s by “R:” and when they sing together, “T:”. R: What had she done to you, the rest of the people are all talking about it. Those scare on your forehead, I am willing to listen to the scary truth. P: She is not that crazy, and she is still beautiful and kind. We had once in deep love, so I don’t want to give her a bad name. R: Who could be as great as you? I understand that you wanted to protect your love. 25th Nov 2014 (高山低谷 – Phil Lam)

The song for today is “高山低谷” by Phil Lam (林奕匡). While he started his music career from 2010, I didn’t really noticed him as he produce album at a rather slow pace and that the time when he start his career, the company he is in (Sony music) was having some copyright argument with TVB (generally considered as the biggest TV station in Hong Kong). This song though catches my ear. For some reason, when I listen to this song it reminded me of “心寒” by Patrick Tang and Ronald Cheng, which is a song that I often listen to (oddly enough, after running this blog for a few years now and I still haven’t talked about it, will probably do it soon). The direct English translation of the title is “High mountain, low valley”.

The lyrics of the song are about love, it talks about the protagonist trying to get close of the distance between him and the girl that he likes, but he felt that no matter what he does, they will never get closer. It said, in the forest, he felt that as if he is out of oxygen. During sunset, he is lonely and he felt that he doesn’t have the right to see her. He knows early on that the high mountain and the low valley separated them, lacking human warmth. Her royalty game, his street travel journey; he think that he was too naïve to believe that true love. She happily lives her life, while he works very hard to live. How many people are at the peak of the mountain gazing at him being tired? He just hopes to be accepted, not scare to work hard. But the finish line is at the edge of the world. While she defined her living, he looked down at his life, so he is only suited to stay in the valley to sort himself up. He wishes that there would be a good ending, but the distance is hard to be shortened. He hasn’t seen the finish line and hasn’t found grace, so there is a large distance between him and her. The more he hope, the more he felt hopeless, there isn’t him in her future. So let’s end this at the cliff as he never had happiness. He felt that after the sky turn dark and brighten again, someone will say goodbye and someone will fall off. No matter how much he tells people about his situation, she wouldn’t comfort him. She distinguish it too clearly, too harsh. He still needs to live, so he quietly stay in the mountain and the valley until he die. She keeps going her way and he keeps hiding his love. The song for today is “遊園驚夢” by Aaron Kwok. This song was quite old. While it was the song that got sent to radio and tv stations for promotion for that particular album, but I think it wasn’t as big comparing to Aaron’s other previous popular song. Despite that, I personally quite like this song as it differ quite a lot from traditional Aaron’s songs, and it got a mystic feel to it. The title of the song related to a Chinese play “牡丹亭” (Peony Pavilion), the direct English translation of the title is “Travel through the park, scary dreams”.

The lyrics of the song are about the protagonist dreams that he entered a utopia, where it is filled with love that last forever. It said, the day he left, it felt like that millions of years had passed because he got into a dream that he really loves. In the sweet dream, it felt like an amusement park. In this park, there are no sadness and love are all around. He heard that there are loves that last forever; both will love each other, never change their mind and will go over all the problems together. Pure love, will never wanted to change, there are no end point to it. In this sweet dream, he landed in this amusement park. The thing that touches him the most is that she is in front of him and gave him true love. Using love and kindness, she filled his thought. Never change and never will change, all he wanted is that every day his day will be perfect. The day he left, he enters this amusement park. HE found this dream, but it wasn’t long enough. In this sweet dream, he was lucky that he found love. HE wishes that he will never wake up from this dream and it will last forever. The song for today is “Be True” by Joey Yung. This song was released in 2006.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that confusion and lost are challenging her. If you don’t compromise in love, then go through all the troubles together. Face the problems together and enjoy the happiness, these are the bases of finding the perfect partner. If you have done something wrong, then go through it together. But if you can’t avoid the busyness in real life, then let her treasure her partner’s restart. She is not worry that she wouldn’t see him enough. The lyrics of the song are about how we got fewer friends as we growth up due to the fact that we need to take care of our families (or other duty imposed on us through life). The song that I picked for today is “給我愛過的男孩們” by Cass Pang. This song was quite popular, however I didn’t like it too much as I think it was a bit dull. The English translation of the title is “To those boys that I had loved”.

The lyrics of the song are about how the protagonist see her past relationships with all her ex-boyfriend when she get married. She said, with the diamond ring on her finger and they had said “I do”, the moment she looked at the ring she truthfully said thanks to her past without letting her other half know. This is the start of a story, a girl decided that she need to say goodbye to naive, and fall in love quickly while she is still young. From then, she had fallen in love many times; there were sadness and happiness, just like a love magazine. When she got time, she could flip it open to enjoy those old stories. Those that she looked up to, those that she hold hand with, those that she hurt, those that she can’t decide, she wanted them to dedicated this song to her, as every boy that she like is like a blossom flower. Those that she dreamed of, those that she had got, those that she waited and those that she lost, wish her to be happy, and she also wish that all of them will be like her. The song for today is “斷了氣” by Edmond Leung. Personally I quite like this song when I was a kid as it was very different to other songs. The English translation of the title is “Stopped breathing”.

The lyrics of the song are about love.
