13th Jan 2015 (勁之夜 – Samantha Lam/Eat you up – Angie Gold)

As mentioned yesterday, the song for today is “勁之夜” by Samantha Lam, which is the other Cantonese cover version of “Eat you up” by Angie Gold. Both “勁之夜” and “跳舞街” were from 1986, I am not sure which one got released first. But having multiple cover versions of the same song was rather common back in the 80’s, like Kohji Makaino (近藤真彦) “夕焼けの歌” that I had previously talked about, there were 3 Cantonese cover versions and Mayumi Itsuwa (五輪真弓) “恋人よ” got 5 different Chinese cover versions. Back to “勁之夜”, the English translation of the title is “Superb Night”.

The lyrics of the song are about being energetic and dancing. It said, the sounds of drums are hot; our hearts are burning and sweating. Our legs just wanted to dance and we stop caring what time it is. Tonight we got to be free, movement should be quick just like wave. Come quick, stop sitting down at the corner and stare at me. It’s such a physical night, you better not waste it. Do you wanna dance tonight? It’s such a physical night, don’t waste it. Do you wanna dance tonight? It’s such a physical night, keep waiting and you will waste it. Do you wanna dance tonight? It’s such a physical night, don’t waste it. Do you wanna dance tonight? The sounds of drums are fast and hot, the fluorescent shirt is shaking with me. Our hands move so fast that they couldn’t be tide down. If our heart id hot, there is no need to restrain ourselves. Come quick, stop sitting down at the corner and stop being so nervous that causes your hands and legs to sweat. No need to sit, no need to sit, no need to sit, sitting quietly in my fridge. Come to me, come to me, come to me, come to me. It’s gonna dance all night, don’t waste it. Do you wanna dance tonight? Hope you will like the song.
