The
song for today is “亞熱帶少年” by Prudence Liew. This song was
from 1986, it was included in Prudence’s very first album. This song is the
Cantonese version of 紀宏仁’s “亞熱帶”.
The direct English translation of the title is “Subtropical boy”.
The
lyrics of the song are about a subtropical boy trying to search for the purpose
of his life. It said, subtropical boy, the little spider in the coconut forest,
said couldn’t feel the purpose. Pointlessly gazing up the edge of the sky,
hoping to find his purpose. No mood under the rain, this tropical high pressure
region. Couldn’t understand the sky, just like how he felt. Subtropical boy, subtropical
boy, subtropical boy, subtropical boy. Yeah subtropical boy, pointlessly playing
with a piece of paper, writing half a poem. Silently gazing at the edge of the
sky, but couldn’t find his purpose. The little spider in the coconut forest,
bought all the memories into his heart. Remained in his heart, carrying
everything from the past. Standing at this corner, he could only say goodbye lonelily.
The branches tell him quietly to please forget about the past, try to erase the
hopeless dreams in his heart. Hope you will enjoy the song. I have also linked
to the original for comparison.
