7th Oct 2014 (月半小夜曲 – Hacken Lee/ハーフムーン・セレナーデ – Naoko Kawai (河合奈保子))

The song for today is “月半小夜曲” by Hacken Lee. This is one of my all-time favourites and I couldn’t believe that after running this blog for so long I still haven’t talked about this song. The direct English translation of the title is “Half-moon Serenade”. This is the Chinese cover version of a Japanese song “ハーフムーン・セレナーデ” (which means the same thing as “Half-moon Serenade”) sing by Naoko Kawai ( 河合奈保子).

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said that on a sleepless night he still gaze at the stars, he could still hear the sounds of a violin, sounds to him that it is crying and trying to attract him. Why there is only a curve moon left on his sky? After tonight he never heard from her again. People are like the moon on the sky, something that you couldn’t own. Love is like a song, when it passes it left behind something and you couldn’t save it but have to say good bye. Why there are only disappointments to fill up his emptiness. Tonight there isn’t a good bye kiss for him. Still talking about forever, but he couldn’t believe that was just an excuse and he never thought that would mean break up. But his heart, every minute and every second are still own by her. She is like that moon, who never opens her mouth. Violin is playing the song “Semi-moon leaning on spring” solo. His thoughts, his dreams, will last forever. I have also linked to the original Japanese version, hope you will enjoy the songs.
