3rd July 2012 (小說伴咖啡 – Robynn & Kendy)

The song that I chose for today is “小說伴咖啡” by Robynn & Kendy. Robynn & Kendy is a new music group in Hong Kong, it is make up by two girls called Robynn & Kendy. They started their career on YouTube. At first they posted songs on YouTube and I guess for their unique voice they got very popular, the viewed number keeps increasing. Early this year, Universal Music (Hong Kong) approached them, and so they have jointed Universal Music and produced their first album. Robynn & Kendy are not the first singer that developed their career from YouTube, from memory, the first singer from Hong Kong that started off from YouTube and end up producing an album was Kellyjackie. However, Robynn & Kendy are really the first singers in Hong Kong, started off from YouTube that sign a contract with a big music company. You can still found the videos that they uploaded before they joint Universal on YouTube, beside, they still post video on YouTube. I guess Universal understand that Robynn & Kendy are quite different from their other singer, and since they started off from the internet, I guess they wanted Robynn & Kendy to maintain those audience.

Anyways, back to the song. The direct English translation of the title is “Novel accompanied with coffee”. The lyrics are about a relaxing afternoon. Throughout the song, it describes the protagonist just wanted to have a lazy holiday. She just wanted to pick the novel that she love and enjoy it with the coffee that she likes. This song in a way bring out the message that happiness could be very simple. Although I personally don’t like this song too much as I think it is a bit dull, but I do like the way Robynn and Kendy sing this song. The song sound very fresh and their style is quite distant. Besides that, their voice is very good. Though their songs sound very similar, so I really hope that they can provide a larger variety of songs, otherwise I think they will not last too long before people forgot about them. I hope you will like Robynn & Kendy as well.
