A Song a day: 9th July 2012 (零時十分

Today’s song is “零時十分” by Sally Yip. The direct English translation of the title is “00:10” that is 12:10am. This is one of the songs that I really like from Sally.

The lyrics are about the protagonist celebrating her birthday by herself. The lyrics goes like this: It’s 12:10am, and she look out the window, she see there are people walking in the rain. She remember that once upon a time, she and her boyfriend was walking in the rain and her boyfriend said to her “Happy Birthday my love one”. But why this time she is sitting here by herself till 2am, looking at the rain outside, holding 2 glasses of cold champagne and saying “Happy Birthday to my love one”. There is only tears and rain to celebrate her birthday with. Now sitting there alone until 6am, holding 2 glasses of warm champagne and saying “happy birthday to me”.

The lyrics are quite sad, and I think Sally fully expressed that feeling in the song. Hope you will enjoy this song.
