Today’s
song is “歡樂今宵” by Leo Ku. This song is my favourite from Leo, from
memory it came out in around 1997. This song was very popular back then, it was
so popular that it gave Leo the chance to have his first concert in Hong Kong.
Though after this song, his singing career didn’t go that well until around 2004
he signed a contract with Paco Wong as his manager and he became popular again.
The direct translation of the title is “Happy tonight”.
The lyrics
of the song are about hoe the protagonist dreamed about a girl and this girl
finally became his girlfriend. Yet, now that they are together, he found that
they are not as happy as he expected, and he realised that they are not right for
each other. They found that they love each other if they keep their distance
from each other, so this relationship that he dreamed of can only stay in his
mind. Quite a sad story. I personally love the melody, through it, you can feel
the ups and downs of the protagonist experienced. I hope you will enjoy the
