5th Feb 2015 (直至消失天與地 – Ekin Cheng/Stay あなたの聲が聞きたい – Voice)

The song for today is “直至消失天與地” by Ekin Cheng. This song was released in 1994, it is the Cantonese cover version of the Japanese song “Stay あなたの聲が聞きたい” by Voice. The direct English translation of the title is “Until it disappeared between sky and earth”. This song was the theme song of the TV drama “笑看風雲”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist asked who was the person that passes by here, make him understand the meaning of being alive. Who is this person that makes me in love for his whole life, even when the ending is not ideal. Now that you have left, he wishes you would know that he never changed his heart and he will not love another person. Even though he is unhappy, but there is nothing that he could do to stop it. Whether he is sleeping or awake, he still wishes to be with her again. Stay, not being able to be close to her in real life make him feel dead. Stay, you smile is making him to think about the past memory regardless it was happy or sad. Stay, even we were in love, but still can’t stay. Stay, he will love you until he disappeared between sky and earth. Late, still there are too many sentences and dreams that haven’t been said. How he could let you know that he knows that there is no next time in this story. Too many dusk are left; too many dawn are left. The rest of his life, you need to be in it. But these dusk, these dawn, feels like they already knows that they couldn’t be together with you anymore. Stay, not being able to be close to her in real life make him feel dead. Stay, you smile is making him smile and sad. Stay, even we were in love, but still can’t stay. Stay, he will love you until he disappeared between sky and earth. I have also linked to the original Japanese version below, hope you will like the songs.

    1. I think he said that you can call Ekin as a “一碌野歌手” (a stick singer), as he is a “型棍” (literally mean “trendy stick”, is a 80’s/90’s term to describe people who is cool and trendy).
