Chinese New Year!!! The song for today is “始終我係我” by Eason Chan. Despite
that this song have nothing to do with Chinese new year, but perhaps due to the
use of Chinese instruments, this song always sounds like a Chinese new year
song to me. This song was the theme song for TVB’s “鹿鼎記”,
which was based on the book “鹿鼎記” by Louis Cha Leung Yung. The
direct English translation of the title is “I am always myself”.
The
lyrics of the song are based on protagonist of “鹿鼎記”,
who was a person that couldn’t fight, rather smart, always have ideas to
overcome problems but always like to muck around. It said, think for a plan and
he could turn the situation around, who could match him. Making fun of all the
officer, who could match his ability? Laugh, the past doesn’t matter anymore,
as he is lucky enough to be the protagonist today. Laugh, he only needs to do a
bit of his magic to make you angry. The world laugh at him saying that he is stupid,
but he is glad in his heart as no one knows him as well as himself. Trip over
and fall, he pretended to be stupid, and God helped him to get along, he will
play in this world as he is always himself. Right or wrong, but he is always
himself. The king is supporting him, so what would happen if you want to
control him? He scares of the seven heroes as he can’t fight against them.
Laugh, as luck is shining on him. He moves his arm and bad luck will all go
away. Laugh, is like God want him to find out what he love the most. The world
laugh at him saying that he is stupid, but he is glad in his heart as no one knows
him as well as himself. Trip over and fall, he pretended to be stupid, and God
helped him to get along, he will play in this world as he is always himself.
