14th Feb 2015 (愛的呼喚 – Aaron Kwok)

Happy Valentine ’s Day. While Valentine’s Day has been highly commercialised (and should not be further promoted that way), I think we should still celebrate it for what St. Valentine had done, his sacrifice for love. So I have picked a love song for today, which is “愛的呼喚” by Aaron Kwok. This song is one of Aaron’s classic. It was used for a mobile service provider ad in the 90’s when many of these companies were fighting for the market. Aaron was hired for the company “One2Free”, their major opponent back then was “Hutchison”, which was the company that first used big star for their ad. Hutchison used Leon Lai in their ads. These ads all tend to have a story to them. One thing that “One2Free” did was that they chained their ads together to form a story. If I remember correctly, they used 3 ads. What they did was that at the end of each ad, Aaron, as the protagonist has to make a decision, and audience can all a phone number to vote on what decision he should make. After a week or so, they will air the second ad and the story will continue based on the vote. From memory it was the first time people can vote for the direction of an ad, and I couldn’t remember anyone else did this after these ads. Back to the song, the direct English translation of the title is “Call of love”.

The lyrics of the song are about love. The protagonist said: “the light wind is seeped with rain, the freshness felt like you face, always yearning. Like to watch a rainy day, love to see you again, picking up the relationship again. The sense of love will never be broken, even when the world and sky changes every day. Loving you more and will never reduce. Love to hear your voice the most. Who is calling me softly? It reignited the love fire in my heart. Lucky to have you, so that I will not rove and waste time. Come and hug me tightly, and put a lock on my infatuation. Whether it is happy or sad, your soft voice will always lighten me up. Voices will never be blocked, even if we are far away from each other. My heart is so hot like it is on fire. Finally seeing you again, yearning is a torment. Understanding through my heart, it is a love that will never die. It is a decision that I had think thoroughly, and I have found promises and results. I still thank you for giving me a poem like love. Even during the heard time, you are still accompanying me. Hope you will love the song and have a great Valentine’s Day.
