The
song that I chose for today is “在這世界看不夠” by Sammy Leung. Sammy is one
of my favourite radio hosts. He had sung a few songs over the years for his
shows. This one that I chose for today is a Christian song that he sung a few
years ago. Although typically I don’t like Christian songs as they are usually
out of tone and they are far too hard sell on God’s love, but this one, I found
it ok. The direct English translation of the title is “Haven’t seen enough in
this world”.
The
lyrics of the song are about life, how we shouldn’t give up. It said happiness
is always a delusion, and we never know which one is our sun. If being ordinary
is normal, then why have I got all the awards (in the lyrics, it seems the ward
“award” here is use in a sarcastic way, hence indicating that the protagonist
got all the bad things happened in his life)? Bad luck is like the snow in a cold night, infinitely
extending the darkness. But he is glad that when he was at the dead end, he meets
God. He hasn’t seen enough in this world, as he still hasn’t seen the universe.
Not fulfilled, not letting go, as no one wish to lost their freedom. If he manages
to win this fight, he promises that he will love to the end. Breaking this
curse and he will be reborn, and wish to become a teammate. Even he always bumps
into snow, and wanting his journey to be longer. Be accompanied would make him
stronger, so he think of God every day. HE
tried to chase his dream again, even if he managed to get what he wanted, when
he got lost, he wishes that God could guide him. He hasn’t seen enough of this
world, as it still isn’t the end of the story. Please don’t leave, don’t leave,
he uses all his strength to pray. If he manages to win this fight, he promises
that he will love to the end. He will hold this pair of hand, and all he need
for his happy life is to have God accompanying him. Holding God’s hand, he
knows he could create his life.
Although
my translation sounds quite hard sell as there are many “God” in the lyrics,
but in the actual lyrics, it uses “祢”, which pronounce the same as “你”
(meaning “you”). That word is a special word used to refer to God, I am not a
Christian, so I am not quite sure what word I could use in place of “祢”other
than “God” (I guess the bible uses “He”, but I am not sure). Anyway, hope you
will enjoy the song.
