Continuing the series that I started a few days ago, the
song for today is “離人” by Teresa Cheung (張德蘭).
This song is the last entry of this mini-series, as it is pretty much the last
proper Chinese cover version that I could found. There are other Chinese cover
version of Mayumi Itsuwa’s “恋人よ” such as “忘不了貴” by
Teresa Teng (鄧麗君) and “愛的憧憬” by Irene Yeh(葉璦菱), but these are either an once off performance or that they are simply too hard to find on internet.
Anyway, back to Teresa Cheung’s version, the direct English translation of the
title is “Leaving person”.
The lyrics of the song are about breaking up. The protagonist
said that they are about to apart, and so it is unavoidable to be sad. Wishing
to remember the old days, but sadly, we still have to be apart even when she feels
a bit regret. Not wanting to let go, and she feel bad. Saying goodbye in front
of him, she cried. Please don’t give her pain nor punish her. How could it be
wrong to only meet up occasionally? Life is like a road with a lot of people
rushing by. When you decided to step back onto the road, please don’t search
for her. Hope you will like the song. As usual, I have linked to the original
Japanese version for comparison.
Other songs that share the same melody:
離人 – Teresa Cheung
恋人よ – Mayumi
Itsuwa (五輪真弓)
